For two decades, Mercedes-Benz has partnered with the world’s top fashion events across a host of cities; from Sydney, Tokyo, Istanbul, Berlin and Beijing to Paris, Milan, London and many more. Worldwide, Mercedes-Benz currently supports over 50 fashion platforms, connecting young and emerging talents as well as established designers through a unique global fashion network.
The ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ designer programme was first initiated at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Los Angeles in October 2003. Several designers were chosen to launch the initiative including Cynthia Vincent, Petro Zillia, Alicia Lawhorn and Louis Verdad.
The approach for this special designer programme has evolved, and at since 2003 designers such as Monique Huillier, Derek Lam, Carla Zampatti and Dame Trelise Cooper have all been selected as ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ designers.
Each year a designer is chosen by Mercedes-Benz, based on their unique style, creative flair and quality craftsmanship. They receive support for their runway show at New Zealand Fashion Week, and a beautiful vehicle to drive for the year.
Mercedes-Benz was proud to recognise Harman Grubiša as the 2016 ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ designer. Harman Grubiša’s entrepreneurial success and timeless, classic design appeal, makes it one of the nation’s most exciting new fashion labels, and is one of the first New Zealand labels to be nominated for the prestigious International Woolmark Prize.
The brand presented its 2017 Autumn/Winter collection as the debut evening show during New Zealand Fashion Week as ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents Harman Grubiša’.
