Mercedes-Benz New Zealand Ltd has received three awards at the 2014 New Zealand AA Car of the Year Awards for the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and S-Class.
Following comprehensive testing held throughout the year, the New Zealand Motoring Writer’s Guild and AA Motoring Experts hand pick the finalists for each vehicle category, and have deemed the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and S-Class to be the best in their respective classes. Among strong competition, the all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class took out the Medium/Large Car category, while the Mercedes-Benz S-Class was recognised as the best Luxury Car in the market.
In addition to the individual categories, the New Zealand Motoring Writer’s Guild and AA Motoring Experts also award the vehicle that receives the highest
Australasian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP) Rating for crash test and pedestrian test simulations in a ‘safety category’. The ANCAP rating system measures the impact sustained on both the pedestrian and vehicle during the event of an incident.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class was again recognised, and awarded with the prestigious ‘Safest Car’ title. The motoring experts were particularly impressed with the outstanding high level of standard safety equipment across C-Class range.
The New Zealand Motoring Writer’s Guild President, Liz Dobson, said that the judging experts considered a number of factors in their assessment of the finalists and winners: “Styling, performance, handling, economy, comfort, safety, build quality and finish, value for money and the x-factor were all taken into account when refining our list of contenders.
