Invercargill might have a reputation for cold, even freezing weather, but there’s plenty of work for Jack Refrigeration.
Founded in 2005 by husband and wife team David and Sara Jack, the company specialises in dairy and commercial refrigeration, air conditioning and – of course – heat pumps to battle the chilly local climate.
Serving customers across the length and breadth of the Southland region, including those on fishing boats and off-shore islands, the company needs a fleet of economical, reliable and safe vehicles.
“We have three new Mercedes-Benz Sprinters and one Vito and we’re very happy,” said Sara, who is the company’s Managing Director.
“We spent quite a bit of time researching the market and we narrowed it down to three top contenders, but Mercedes-Benz won hands down.
“This is a fierce part of the country so the Mercedes-Benz safety features were really important to us.
“Technology like Cross Wind Assist is brilliant for our staff. They are driving 20,000 to 40,000 kilometres a year so we need to know they are safe and they are driving a vehicle that’s going to stick to the road.”
Sara said the vans’ size and versatility were also key factors in the purchase decision.
“The equipment we have to carry is big and bulky but we don’t have a problem fitting it in.”
Sara and David’s investigation also found ‘whole of life’ costs were well in favour of the Mercedes-Benz vans.
