When it comes to these indispensable machines, it’s hard to go past Centra Forklifts which has been selling, hiring and servicing forklifts in some form or another since 1965.
Proud to be a 100% privately-owned New Zealand company – Auckland-based with a national dealer and service network – Centra has made customer service paramount, so its service fleet of vehicles have to be ready to go.
And among the most recent additions to the Centra service fleet are four Mercedes-Benz Vans – two Sprinters and two Vitos.
“Three of our fleet are mobile mechanic vans, based out of our South Auckland site, so they are equipped with stock and spare parts, servicing customers across the greater metro area” said Centra General Manager, Shane O'Driscoll.
“The other Sprinter we’ve converted into a full mechanical workshop to service and support one of our major clients who does not have their own workshop.
“It has built-in benches, machinery and tooling to do just about anything. That was only possible because of the sheer size of the Sprinter and its ability to handle quite a bit of weight.”
Another reason Centra went with Mercedes-Benz was the fact that while we make vans, cars, trucks and buses - we don’t make forklifts.
“Yes, a number of vans never made our list because they also make forklifts which means we would have clashed with clients who have forklifts from a competing brand, but the Sprinters and Vitos still had to beat out some good competition,” Shane said.
“They have turned out to be very good and very reliable. The team who drive these vehicles don’t want to give them back and the others are envious.
“The four Mercedes-Benz have also helped lift Centra’s brand in the marketplace.
“Driving Mercedes-Benz Vans certainly help make us look more credible,” Shane said.
“We will be retiring some of our other vans in the short term and based on our experience there’s genuine interest in replacing them with Mercedes-Benz.”
