If you've ever traversed New Zealand's spectacular countryside in a motorhome, you'll appreciate the importance of a bit of home-away-from-home comfort.
Wellington-based hire company, Pacific Horizon, is one of the country's premier providers of motorhome rentals for holiday makers. The company has nigh on 300 motorhomes for hire, 150 of which are Mercedes-Benz Sprinters.
From its humble beginnings in 1983 with three motorhomes and a small Wellington-based office, the company now has four nationwide pick-up and drop-off locations, including Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch and Picton.
Its premium service offering aside, what makes Pacific Horizon so unique is the ease of experience it has created for its customers.
"We make it easy to hire a motorhome and enjoy New Zealand by offering the most transparent terms and conditions in the industry," said Pacific Horizon's Marketing Manager, Colin Morris.
"There's no bond deducted from your credit card at the time of pick-up, no add-on credit-card fees, no charge for additional drivers. There's also no extra cost for insurance to cover what we believe are the most important parts of your temporary motorhome - the top and bottom of the vehicle, as well as the windscreen and tyres.
The fleet itself comprises five distinct models, which range from new to around five years old.
"For us, hiring these vehicles is our business. Reliability, safety and drivability are extremely important for our business, which, along with the Mercedes-Benz brand, price, long-term warranty and service intervals played a big part in our decision to go with Mercedes-Benz Vans for such a large part of our fleet.
"To give you some idea, over the seven-year life cycle of each Mercedes-Benz model, we'd expect it to cover around 250,000-280,000km, so, from our point of view, reliability is crucial."
