Mercedes-Benz S-Class named ‘Luxury Car of the Year’ for 2017 by National Business Review

Auckland – The National Business Review has this week declared the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class it’s ‘Luxury Car of the Year’ for 2017 as it announced its annual Car of the Year awards at the Harbourside Restaurant overlooking Auckland’s waterfront.

The awards recognise the upper echelon of vehicles released in the 2017 calendar year, and are presented in February to allow all vehicles released before December 31st to be eligible.

It is the fifth award in the past four years for Mercedes-Benz from the National Business Review, including the ‘Supreme Car of the Year’ award presented to both the Mercedes-Benz E-Class in 2016 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class in 2015.

Of the S-Class, NBR Motoring Editor Cameron Officer said: “The Mercedes-Benz S-Class – still the pinnacle of everything the storied Benz brand stands for, even in this day and age of electric propulsion and shared mobility – has so much to offer, any in-depth discussion inadvertently ends up a brochure-aping greatest hits list. Suffice to say, the new S-Class features everything you'll ever need on the road, and more."

The S-Class facelift, launched in New Zealand in November 2017, leads the Mercedes-Benz range in technology, safety innovation, comfort and luxury. Among the highlights is an all-new and highly efficient engine range for standard S-Class models, further steps towards semi-autonomous driving, and an interior package that further defines the new S-Class as the undisputed leader in comfort and occupant wellness thanks to a new feature, ENERGIZING Comfort Control.

Mercedes-Benz New Zealand General Manager Ben Giffin said: “We are incredibly honoured to be presented with the Luxury Vehicle of the Year award for the new S-Class. This vehicle truly represents our brand through its increased occupant safety technology and the priority placed on user wellness. The combination of smoother engines and the new ENERGIZING Comfort Control feature will help to make travelling in this new S-Class more luxurious than ever before.”

The all new S-Class range is available from $176,900 RRP for the S 350d plus on road costs.
