Saunders says one of the bucket list wishes he’s helped fulfil was the time he flew a group of VIP guests into the mountains with fresh Bluff oysters and Champagne. The helicopter landed high in the alps so his guests could enjoy their beverages chilled over glacier ice in the spectacular surrounds.

Another popular destination for Alpine Luxury Tours customers include Piopiotahi (Milford Sound), known as the ‘Eighth Wonder Of The World’ for its towering mountains, deep fjords and abundant wildlife. The company’s exclusive Staircase Creek guided hike is another favourite. Guests can enjoy expansive views, learn about the rich flora and fauna, and add on a morning tea, a farm tour and a winery lunch.

Preserving these unique environments is paramount for Saunders and his team. “We believe that we only have one world, and it is ours to protect,” he says. “We teach people that we ‘Take only photos, and leave only footprints’, and that way our landscape and beauty will be around for generations to come.”

When it comes to natural beauty and attractions, few destinations can compete with Queenstown on New Zealand’s South Island. Set amongst the dramatic Southern Alps, this adventure sports mecca boasts everything from world-class skiing to bungee jumping and jet-boating. But the region has huge appeal beyond adrenaline-seekers, with its picturesque vineyards, stunning vistas and a huge network of walking tracks.

It’s a special part of the world that Alpine Luxury Tours loves to show off. This locally owned tour company specialises in creating luxurious, personalised experiences for a diverse clientele. From a helicopter day trip to the wineries to a bespoke multi-day journey, Alpine Luxury Tours can create an unforgettable excursion to suit any visitor.

“Each and every one of our guests has a unique story, and it’s our job to listen, learn and provide them with an incredible experience,” says Lee Saunders, the founder of Alpine Luxury Tours. “Our custom tours are great for those whose interests are outside the mainstream. We can base a tour around a specific hobby, interest or idea. Our guides are flexible, and can organise the day at a drop of a hat.”

With so many breath-taking destinations to reach, Alpine Luxury Tours depends on being able to provide comfortable transportation for its guests. When they’re not taking to the skies in a helicopter, customers are ferried from one experience to the next in a 12-seat Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, a 17-seat Sprinter or a Vito van.

“Our fleet is tailored to the luxury market”, Saunders says. “We have leather seats, more leg room and the highest safety ratings. Our guests frequently remark on how comfortable and accessible our vehicles are, and we believe this helps transform their experience from an okay one to the ultimate in luxury.”

“We put these vehicles through their paces over 12 hour days, with trips to Milford Sound or multiple ski field transfers. Features like push button doors and reversing cameras, and the van’s overall ease of use for our drivers, allow us to do what we do.”

As for what the future holds for Alpine Luxury Tours, Saunders hints that even more exclusive tours are in the works. “Our guests will continue to experience luxury tours like no one else, as they escape the crowds and step outside the barriers to savour the best of what Queenstown offers.”
