New Vehicle Warranty
Peace of mind.
Our comprehensive Warranty means peace of mind for five years for Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars purchased from Authorised Mercedes-Benz Retailers in New Zealand. The warranty is our promise to you that Mercedes-Benz will repair or replace manufacturing defects in material or workmanship which arise during the warranty period, free of charge.
5 year Warranty is applicable to vehicles first registered on or after 1 August 2022.
If your vehicle was registered prior to 1 August 2022, then the 3 year warranty period applies.

This Warranty is applicable to new and demonstrator vehicles including Mercedes-AMG, electric vehicles and V-Class vehicles, and the Vehicle Warranty exists for the benefit of any subsequent owner of the Vehicle during the applicable Warranty Period.
The Plan is our promise to you that Mercedes-Benz will repair or replace manufacturing defects in material or workmanship which arise during the Warranty Period free of charge.
However, the Plan only covers the vehicle as manufactured by us and does not cover any modification, accessories, bodies, or other goods or services supplied by a third party manufacturer or supplier.
For vehicles registered from 1st August 2022, the Warranty Period is 5 years (60 months) from the date of first registration of the Vehicle subject to the below;
a) If your Vehicle is used in Commercial Application the Warranty Period is 5 years (60 months) from the date of first registration of the Vehicle or until the Vehicle has travelled 200,000 kilometres, whichever occurs first;
“Commercial Application” means using the Vehicle for commercial purposes or public transport purposes such as a taxi or other hire, rental, rideshare or charter vehicle (including on a part-time or casual basis)
b) Battery warranty periods vary for both private and commercial use. Please see Warranty Statement for full Warranty Period terms.
The Owner Protection Plan for electric vehicles provides 5 years unlimited kilometre coverage, including coverage for the 12-volt battery for 3 years unlimited kilometre coverage. The Owner Protection Plan also covers the High Voltage (HV) Battery for 8 years or 160,000km, whichever occurs first*. All precautions, which are usual and reasonable, have been taken to ensure the quality of the materials and workmanship in Mercedes-Benz vehicles. However, if any manufacturing defect arises and is presented to one of the Company’s Authorised Mercedes-Benz Retailers or Authorised Mercedes-Benz Service and Parts Centres within the protection period outlined in the terms and conditions, upon examination of the vehicle, if the defect is determined to be caused by defective material or workmanship, Mercedes-Benz New Zealand will repair the vehicle and/or replace (at its election) the defective part at no cost to you.
*The High Voltage (HV) battery for the EQE, EQS and G 580 is covered for 10 years or 250,000km, whichever occurs first.
To the extent permitted by law, the following limitations apply to this Warranty (unless inconsistent with the context or otherwise specified), and this Warranty does not cover damage to, or faults or defects in the Vehicle, the Battery, any Parts and Accessories, the Wallbox or the Paint and Interior Protection, arising out of or related to:
• neglect, misuse, intentional damage, improper operation, improper maintenance, storage, transportation, accident or use for a purpose for which it was not designed;
• water ingress such as from floods or deep-water fording;
• modifications in engine output or vehicle specifications without the Company’s approval;
• use of non-genuine Mercedes-Benz parts and/or use of parts, accessories, supplies or service products not approved or recommended by the Company or Mercedes-Benz Genuine Parts on which the identification marks have been altered, defaced or are otherwise unidentifiable;
• repairs, modifications or reprogramming other than by an authorised Mercedes-Benz Retailer (or, in the case of any Wallbox, by a qualified repairer or installer) where such repair, modification or re-programming causes or contributes to any damage, fault or defect;
• the permissible gross vehicle mass, the permissible gross combination mass or the permissible axle mass having been exceeded;
• natural, external and/or environmental influences including but not limited to climatic conditions, fallout, bird or animal droppings, road salt, plant and animal substances and pollution;
• improper care, improper cleaning methods, cleaning materials and/or spray waxes not recommended by the Company or use of non-approved fuels, lubricants or additives;
• use of the Vehicle, Wallbox, Part or Accessory beyond its engineered and stated capability including (without limitation) in regards to use, application and load capacity;
• goods not imported into New Zealand or manufactured by the Company or a related body corporate (including but not limited to the goods and services of body builders, suppliers or installers). Damage, faults or defects in, or damage consequential to the use of such goods, are the responsibility of the third party manufacturer, supplier or installer. To the extent it is able to, the Company will supply the name and address of any such manufacturer, supplier or installer on request and it is the owner’s responsibility to make claims under such warranties as may be available;
• use in motor sport, competition, rally or race or beyond its engineered and stated capability in regards to use, application and load capacity; or
• improper use of a Wallbox and/or the cabling and/or their fitment to the Vehicle and/or improper use of the Battery.
To the extent permitted by law, this Warranty does not cover:
• tyres, consumables, maintenance, servicing, normal wear and tear, the alignment of front and rear axles, wheel balancing and tyre rotation; or
• any direct or indirect damage incurred or repairs required including (without limitation) if you continue to operate the Vehicle or Wallbox or use the Part or Accessory after the defect arises.
The Warranty will not apply to a Vehicle if the Vehicle becomes unroadworthy, unregistered, written off, exported outside of New Zealand or if the odometer reading cannot be determined as accurate as a result of it being inoperative, tampered with, altered, disconnected or removed from the Vehicle.
At Mercedes-Benz we are all about getting you back on the road as quickly and effortlessly as possible.
Present the Vehicle to an Authorised Mercedes-Benz Retailer immediately or as soon as practicable, after a defect arises that may be due to a manufacturing defect[1]. You can find your nearest Authorised Mercedes-Benz Retailer at www.mercedes-benz.co.nz/dealer.
You must permit the Authorised Mercedes-Benz Retailer to fully inspect the Vehicle. Some repairs, diagnosis or replication of the defect may not be possible with only one inspection, so you may need to make more than one visit to an Authorised Mercedes-Benz Retailer.
Some parts may be removed and replaced as part of a repair under the Plan. Any parts which are removed will become the property of Mercedes-Benz.
MBNZ liability in all circumstances will, whenever permitted by law, be limited to the repair and replacement of any defective part or parts or the payment of the cost of any such repair or replacement as MBNZ in its sole discretion determines to be appropriate. To the fullest extent permitted by law the Warranty does not cover any contingent, indirect or consequential loss resulting from defects (including without limitation penalty rates, down time and freight/load loss).
Mercedes-Benz takes all precautions which are usual and reasonable to ensure the quality of materials and workmanship in its products.
Provided that the terms and conditions of the Plan have been complied with, any unexpired period of the Plan may be transferred to a new registered owner of the Vehicle.
The Warranty applies to all new Mercedes-Benz vehicles registered on or after 1st August 2022.

Factory backed Warranty for all Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles.
When we go to such lengths to comprehensively check every Mercedes-Benz Certified pre-owned vehicle, it should come as no surprise that all qualifying vehicles have a Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned factory warranty. The warranty is only available for Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles purchased from an authorised Mercedes-Benz retailer in New Zealand.
When you purchase a Mercedes-Benz Certified vehicle you receive nationwide, unlimited kilometre, factory backed warranty coverage of a minimum of 2 years.
In the case of a vehicle less than 2 years old, the total warranty period is the balance of the new car warranty, and in addition a minimum 1 year Mercedes-Benz Certified Warranty, which commences at the expiration of the Mercedes-Benz New Passenger Car 3 Year Owner Protection Plan.
In the case of an eligible vehicle less than 8 years old, the Mercedes-Benz Certified Warranty period commences after any remaining new car warranty has expired, or on the date of delivery of the Mercedes-Benz Certified vehicle at an authorised Mercedes-Benz retailer in New Zealand.

The Mercedes-Benz Certified Warranty provides coverage for manufacturing defects and a range of breakdown and roadside assistance situations almost anywhere in New Zealand.
Mercedes-Benz will repair or replace (at our election) manufacturing defects in material or workmanship that arise during the relevant Warranty period free of charge.
However, the Mercedes-Benz Certified Warranty only covers vehicles imported and manufactured by Mercedes-Benz. It does not cover any modification, accessories, bodies or other goods or services supplied by a third party manufacturer.
The Warranty covers the same mechanical components and exclusions as set out in the Mercedes-Benz New Passenger Car Owner Protection Plan, subject to a number of additional excluded components as summarised below. Please see the Mercedes-Benz Certified Warranty booklet for more detail on the exclusions. These components are excluded from the Warranty:
• Consumable items such as oil seals, gaskets, external linkages, clutch friction plates, spark plugs, ignition leads, recharging air conditioners, fuel, lubricants and coolants.
• Any items that require replacement as part of normal vehicle maintenance including batteries, leads, glow plugs, belts, filters, hoses, globes, brake and clutch linings, brake pads, disc rotors and disc and drum machining.
• Repairs required for wheels, tyres, paintwork, chrome, seals, panels and bodywork, all glass items, decorative or trim components which include seat covers, door trims, soft top or convertible roof, covers, carpets, edge protectors, cup holders, ashtrays and telephone equipment and software.
• Exhaust systems, including manifold, engine pipe, muffler, pipe sections, tail pipe and mounts.
The Warranty will cease to apply if:
• the vehicle is modified from the manufacturer’s specifications without our approval;
• the vehicle is not serviced at the intervals or time or distance specified in the Maintenance Booklet;
• the vehicle is used in motor sport, competition, rally or race;
• the vehicle is used as a police or other emergency vehicle;
• the vehicle is used outside of New Zealand;
• the vehicle is used for a purpose for which it was not designed;
• the vehicle is assessed as a write off, repairable write off or total loss;
• the vehicle is sold via a public auction;
• the vehicle is used for commercial or public transport purposes such as a taxi, limousine or other hire, rental or charter vehicle;
• the odometer reading cannot be determined as accurate as a result of it being inoperative, tampered with, altered, disconnected or removed from the vehicle; or
• the vehicle becomes unroadworthy or unregistered
Obviously we want to get you back on the road as quickly and as effortlessly as we can.
• Present the vehicle to an authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer immediately or as soon as practicable after a defect arises.
• You must also present a copy of the Warranty booklet provided to you at delivery together with the vehicle’s Service Booklet.
• Repair work under the Warranty must be carried out by an authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer using Mercedes-Benz Genuine Parts.
• You must permit the authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer to fully inspect the vehicle. Some repairs, diagnosis or replication of the defect may not be possible with only one inspection, so you may need to make more than one visit to an authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer.
• Any parts that have been replaced as part of a Warranty repair will become the property of Mercedes-Benz.
• If your vehicle requires emergency repair work and you are unable to deliver your vehicle to an authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer, please contact Mercedes-Benz Roadside Assistance on 0800 320 230.
The Mercedes-Benz Certified Vehicle Warranty covers the repair or replacement of manufacturing defects, but does not cover for the cost of any related expenses or losses caused by the defect, such as the cost of telephone calls, rental cars, hotels, taxis, downtime, inconvenience or any loss of profit, loss of revenue or contingent, consequential or indirect losses.
The Warranty does not cover servicing, maintenance, tyres, consumables, normal wear and tear, the alignment of front and rear axels, wheel balancing and tyre rotation. Other terms and conditions. Any unexpired term of the Warranty cannot be transferred to new owners of your vehicle.
