The lush fairways of Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club in Queensland were a picturesque stage for one of the most prestigious amateur golf tournaments in the world – the 2025 MercedesTrophy Australian and New Zealand National Final, held June 4–7.

Celebrating its 36th year internationally, the MercedesTrophy returned in full swing, reaffirming the legacy of Mercedes-Benz, not only as a world-class automaker but as a proud supporter of the game of golf.

Mercedes-Benz is a global sponsor of The Masters and the official patron of The Open, two of the most storied events in professional golf. Legendary players such as Bernhard Langer and rising star Ludvig Åberg also stand among Mercedes-Benz' friends of the brand.

World-class tournament with a grassroots heart

More than just a competition, the MercedesTrophy is a global celebration of golf, camaraderie and customer appreciation. Over 60,000 Mercedes-Benz owners from across the globe tee off in local, regional and national events each year for the chance to represent their country at the MercedesTrophy World Final in Stuttgart, Germany.

In Australia and New Zealand, customers of Mercedes-Benz earned their places in the National Final through a series of qualifying events hosted by the retail network. Their reward? An unforgettable golfing experience at one of Australia’s premier resort destinations.

“It’s a great example of the once-in-a-lifetime experiences available exclusively to Mercedes-Benz owners,” says Jaime Cohen, the managing director of Mercedes-Benz Asia/Pacific and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Cars. “It's a way of saying thank you. Thank you for being with us.”

Sanctuary Cove hosts a tournament to remember

Playing in the crisp, clear days of Queensland’s early winter, Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club presented a perfect backdrop for the high-stakes competition. Players were put through their paces over two of Australia’s most renowned layouts – the Palms and the Pines. Both courses, famous for their challenging design and lush surroundings, offered a true test of skill.

Participants were treated to luxury accommodation and evening functions at the nearby Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove Resort as part of a premium experience that embodied the Mercedes-Benz commitment to excellence. Partners were treated to a range of special events, including wellness treatments, lunches and a visit to one of the incredible wineries in the Gold Coast hinterland.

Competitors and their partners participated in an auction of sporting memorabilia and unique experiences to raise funds for charity partner, Brainwave Australia, after an address from its CEO Paul Bird. Also in attendance was Australian cycling legend Cadel Evans, who told stories about his famous Tour de France victory in 2011 during a Q&A with host Brodie Harper.

Guests also had the opportunity to experience the latest in automotive excellence throughout the tournament, with a curated display of new models positioned around the clubhouse. These included the Mercedes-AMG E 53 HYBRID 4MATIC+ Sedan, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Coupé and the all new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, which collectively demonstrated the cutting edge of Mercedes-Benz design and engineering.

Prizes, challenges, and excitement on the greens

Adding to the excitement of the tournament, players competed for an impressive array of prizes across both competition days. These included the Beat the Pro nearest-to-the-pin challenge on Hole 4 against professional golfer Michael Sim, the MercedesTrophy Drive to the Major longest drive contest on Hole 1 (where the winner scored a trip to The Open in Northern Ireland in July), and multiple hole-in-one prizes including the chance to win an IWC Schaffhausen Ingenieur Automatic 40 Watch and new Mercedes-Benz C 200 Sedan Sport Edition.

After two competitive rounds of golf under clear skies, six players emerged triumphant. They will represent Team Australia and Team New Zealand at the MercedesTrophy World Final in Stuttgart, to be held later this year. This international event is the culmination of months of competition and represents the pinnacle of amateur golf for Mercedes-Benz owners worldwide.

A tradition of excellence continues

The 2025 MercedesTrophy Australia/Pacific National Final proved once again why this tournament remains a cornerstone of Mercedes-Benz global customer engagement efforts. With a blend of sport, luxury, and community, the event underscores the brand’s passion for creating experiences that go well beyond the driver’s seat.
