Perhaps one of the best parts of owning a Mercedes-Benz vehicle is unlocking the Digital Extras that come with it.

Mercedes-Benz Digital Extras enhance almost every interaction you have with your vehicle. With just a few clicks via the mobile app, you can set up your vehicle how you wish, monitor and operate it remotely, keep an eye on your fuel range or charge, and much, much more. Most importantly, they ensure you always stay connected to your Mercedes-Benz.

As Mercedes-Benz continues to embrace future mobility, so do Mercedes-Benz Digital Extras. Acting as a digital extension of your Mercedes-Benz, the platform is constantly adding extra features and functions aimed at enhancing your comfort, convenience and the security of your vehicle.

Depending on your vehicle model, selected special equipment, and the year of manufacture and country, Standard Digital Extras are installed in your Mercedes-Benz before you get in for the first time – all you need to do is activate them. Select features are available free of charge for up to three years. After the three years are up, some will remain complementary, while others can be purchased via the Mercedes-Benz Store.

To make the most of your Digital Extras, you simply need to create a Mercedes me ID, link your vehicle to your Mercedes-Benz account and download the Mercedes-Benz App on your compatible smartphone. You can then use your device to remotely operate and customise your Mercedes-Benz.

Whether you’re a first-time user, or a seasoned Mercedes-Benz driver, here’s a rundown of what you can expect from the highly evolved Mercedes-Benz Digital Extras.[1]

Comfort, plus

Mercedes-Benz helps create a more personalised and comfortable experience behind the wheel by allowing drivers to input their preferred settings via the Mercedes-Benz App.

Ambient lighting, dashboard displays, audio sources, and even lumbar support and mirror settings – they can all be tailored to you. This is an especially useful feature when you share a vehicle with other drivers. The moment you step inside your Mercedes-Benz, you’ll be ready to roll in your own unique way.

Another exciting feature is the MBUX Voice Assistant, which enables you to talk directly to your vehicle. You can ask it to read text messages aloud, check the weather, find the fastest route, switch to a different radio station and more – just say ‘Hey Mercedes’, and your car will listen and respond.

Everything is made easier

The Mercedes-Benz App puts important vehicle information in the palm of your hand, including the odometer and trip meters, plus fuel range and battery percentages. It also sends you a notification when tyre pressure is low or the washer fluid needs topping up.

As an added bonus, the system will notify you when your car is due for a service and direct you to the Mercedes-Benz Service App to arrange an appointment. It can even transmit relevant telediagnostics data directly to your Mercedes-Benz service partner.

Navigating to and from every destination is also breeze with Mercedes-Benz. The predictive navigation feature analyses previous trip data and uses this to make suggestions for your next route, which you can approve and send to the vehicle. The navigation system can also receive live traffic information and provide dynamic route guidance.

Better still, if you ever forget where you’ve parked your car (it’s happened to us all), Remote Vehicle Finder will come to the rescue. You can activate your hazard warning lamps and horn via the Mercedes-Benz App, which will guide you to your locked vehicle.

Safe and sound

Nothing’s worse than breaking down or getting into a road accident, but when these unfortunate incidents happen, Mercedes-Benz lends a helping hand through the Breakdown Management and Accident Recovery features.

When you press the Breakdown Management button in the overhead control unit, you will be connected directly to the Mercedes-Benz Customer Contact Centre, who will also receive your vehicle’s location. Prompt assistance can quickly be arranged from the nearest Mercedes-Benz Service centre.

In the event of an accident where airbags are deployed or seatbelt pretensioners triggered, an emergency call is triggered to the Mercedes-Benz Emergency Response Centre. For smaller incidents, the Mercedes-Benz Customer Contact Centre can also help you to deal with the aftermath, such as helping to organise for the vehicle to be towed.

Additionally, there’s a Theft Notification and Parking Damage Detection feature, which includes a 360° camera. Capable of interior and exterior monitoring, your vehicle will detect if there’s a collision, someone attempts to break in, or your car is being towed – and send a notification straight your device. You can even view the cause of the alarm as well as the extent, place and time of the damage on the Mercedes-Benz App.

Vehicle owners can further protect their car by setting up a Geofence around it. If your car is driven outside the specified area, it will trigger a notification to your device. Speedfencing is also available in some vehicles; a feature that alerts you when the vehicle is driven above a pre-set speed. This helps provide peace of mind when loaning your vehicle to friends and family.

Similarly, when you’re trusting someone else to park your car, the Valet Protect function allows you to set a radius around the vehicle and triggers an alert if the vehicle leaves the permitted zone.

A highly advanced and intelligent platform, Mercedes-Benz Digital Extras are just another example of how we’re using future-focused technologies to ensure the most comfortable, convenient and safe driving experience possible.
