True to its name

The DNA of the new model is immediately apparent, thanks to the expressive AMG exterior styling package. Both the SUV and the Coupé  variants possess a distinctive front and rear end, complemented by 20-inch, 10-twin-spoke light alloy wheels, AMG-specific radiator trim, AMG crest on the bonnet, adaptive LED headlights and black exterior highlights. Drivers can choose from six paint colours – Polar White, Verde Silver, Graphite Grey, High-tech Silver, Obsidian Black, and Spectral Blue – or opt for one of the custom MANUFAKTUR paintwork options (at an additional cost) for an exclusive exterior look.

AMG-specific elements are featured throughout the interior, too – starting right in front of the driver with the optional AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather. Unique to the AMG line, the dual digital dials on the wheel give the driver easy access to the car’s extensive performance systems including adaptive dampers, exhaust acoustics and powertrain response.

Our motorsport origins are clear with optional AMG Performance seats that are power-adjustable and heated for the driver and front passenger. The seats come in black with red contrasting topstitching. Optional AMG carbon interior elements elevate the instrument panel while the steering wheel emphasises the car’s sporty look.

A technology-rich cabin is designed to enhance comfort and convenience for the driver. The optimised MBUX multimedia system presents bespoke AMG displays and functions on two digital screens – an 11.9-inch portrait touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a handy head-up display. Adding to the immersive, high-tech experience is the Burmester audio system, with 15 speakers placed strategically around the cabin and producing a powerful 710W output.

Extra punch of power

In classic AMG fashion, Formula 1-derived technology is featured in the car’s electrically operated turbocharger, promising impressive power and acceleration. 

Equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, boosted by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, it delivers 310kW at 6750rpm and 500Nm at 5000rpm – plus an extra 10kW for short bursts under full throttle utilising the mild-hybrid system. This readily available power means the driver can accelerate 0-100km/h in just 4.8 seconds. 

The driving experience

Behind the wheel, the vehicle’s power is instantly apparent. The moment you put the key in the ignition, you can feel its raw potential – and pressing down gently on the accelerator delivers an impressive burst of speed. 

The AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G nine-speed automatic transmission achieves extremely short and smooth shift response times. It works with the car’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, 70 per cent rear-drive bias and rear-axle steering to ensure stability and responsiveness, something that is particularly noticeable when exiting corners. 

There are five drive modes to choose from in the AMG GLC 43 4MATIC SUV, including Comfort, Sport and Sport+. In the latter, suspension damping settings ensure a controlled and comfortable ride despite the extra power. For those who prefer to take matters into their own hands, there’s also an Individual mode, which offers a bespoke driving experience. Whichever mode you choose, the model’s daring, sporty nature is ever-present – just waiting to be called upon.

For true driving enthusiasts, the AMG TRACK PACE option is designed to improve your performance on closed-off tracks. It records acceleration times to 10th-of-a-second accuracy and displays measurable driving data on the in-car media display.     

Of course, the AMG GLC 43 is equally suited to everyday driving. In urban and suburban areas, it effortlessly transitions from a thrilling, high-performance SUV to a calm, composed cruiser, navigating tight corners and narrow roads with ease.
