Paying homage to the Mercedes-Benz W 125 that dominated the 1937 Grand Prix season, the new Vision EQ Silver Arrow show car breaks new ground as it pays homage to a rich heritage.
The original Silver Arrows demonstrated that Mercedes-Benz was a pioneer in speed, thanks in part to their streamlined shape. Intended for acceleration and driving pleasure, the Vision EQ Silver Arrow draws on that pedigree to provide an insight into the future of Mercedes-Benz. It’s shaped by a distinctly avant-garde aesthetic of progressive luxury, consciously combining digital and analogue elements and seamlessly merging intuitive and physical design.
The single-seat electric Vision EQ Silver Arrow has an output of 550 kW (750 PS), and is powered by an 80 kWh rechargeable battery for a range of more than 400 km.
A study in sleekness.
The silver paintwork of the Vision EQ Silver Arrow is reminiscent of the historic Silver Arrows, which did not have a white paint layer for weight reasons. Multiple layers of alubeam produce a liquid metal appearance on the carbon fibre body structure.
The side skirts feature a lighting strip and large, recessed EQ lettering in front of the partially free-standing multi-spoke rear wheels, which are illuminated in blue. Another striking feature is the round cockpit glazing, inspired by the outline of a drop of water.
Heritage meets cutting edge.
The interior of the Vision EQ Silver Arrow combines timeless aesthetics with futuristic visions. It uses traditional materials such as saddle brown leather, solid walnut with dark wood pinstripes and polished aluminium throughout.
Modern features include a cockpit that folds forward to reveal an interior encompassed by a panoramic screen onto which a 3D image of the surroundings is projected. Innovative user experience features such as the virtual race option underscore the EQ's visionary character and merger of past and future.
