You can charge your EQC at any number of public alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) charging stations. You can find your closest public charging station in the MBUX multi-media system or via app. At public AC charging stations you can charge your vehicle using the standard charging cable provided with the EQC.

EQ&A

Your most important questions on electric driving.

EQ&A

Your most important questions on electric driving.

    • Real electric range

Why is the real electric range often less than specified?

The electric range varies depending on individual driving behaviour, the route profile and the environmental factors. You can travel on electric power further if you use ECO Assist to drive with foresight and take advantage of the recuperation and/or sailing function. Auxiliary equipment such as seat heating or climate control system also has an impact on the range.

    • AC and DC charging technology

What is the difference between AC and DC charging technology?

There are two main types of charging that are often referred to: alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC). Domestic household power outlets, the Mercedes-Benz Wallbox and most public charging stations provide AC charging. The EQC is equipped with an on-board charger known as an AC/DC rectifier, which converts AC into the required DC power. The EQC can be charged at a maximum of 7.4kW using AC power. Public rapid and ultra-rapid charging stations provide DC charging. DC charging bypasses the on-board charger, flowing directly into the battery and increasing charging speeds. The EQC can be charged at a maximum of 110kW using DC power.

    • Environmental friendliness

How environmentally friendly are electric cars?

How environmentally friendly an electric car is depends greatly on your driving and charging behaviour. Among other things, where you source the electricity to charge the vehicle plays a significant role; for example, is the vehicle being charged with "green" electricity or with an energy mix directly from the electricity grid? The easiest way for an electric vehicle owner to charge their vehicle emissions free at home, is to select a 100% green power plan with their energy retailer. Alternatively, they could offset their electricity use with solar energy or charge from battery storage. In terms of public charging, as a general rule the majority of public charging stations are supplied with green electricity.

The high voltage battery is the centre piece of the Mercedes-Benz EQC. Thanks to its extremely high power density, it saves energy for the two electric drive units on the front and rear axle. The battery is installed in the vehicle floor in order to fulfil the high Mercedes-Benz safety requirements. This also lowers the vehicle's centre of gravity, thus ensuring a richly dynamic driving feeling.

*Minimum charging time at a public Direct Current (DC) charging station, charging at a continuous rate of 110kW, from 10% to 80% battery capacity. Charging times can vary depending on many factors including but not limited to ambient conditions, auxiliary consumables (e.g. seat heating and air-conditioning) and capabilities of charging infrastructure capacity and/or supply.

^Range is based on testing under standardised laboratory conditions in accordance with ADR 81/02. The energy consumption and range figures stated are for the purposes of comparison amongst vehicles tested under the same technical procedures only. Real world energy consumption and range figures may vary and is influenced by many additional factors such as, individual driving style, load, traffic, ambient temperature and vehicle condition.
