To celebrate 140 years of innovation at Mercedes-Benz, a 140 Places global convoy is visiting 140 locations, spanning 50,000 kilometres across 6 continents.

140 Places: New Zealand Launch.

For two weeks in June, the 140 Places tour journeyed from Auckland to Queenstown and back again, taking in the sights and scenery that make New Zealand one of the most iconic road-trip destinations in the world.

At the Southward Car Museum on the Kāpiti Coast, 140 Places reflects on the origins of Mercedes-Benz and its enduring influence in New Zealand. Among the collection sits an 1895 Benz Velo; the first ever model of motorcar seen on New Zealand roads.

This milestone highlights how New Zealand’s automotive history isn't just shaped by Mercedes-Benz, it literally started with Mercedes-Benz.
