We are flicking the switch: thanks to the product and technology brand EQ, Mercedes-Benz is creating an electromotive ecosystem for products and services.
The name EQ stands for “Electric Intelligence” and is derived from the Mercedes-Benz brand values of “Emotion and Intelligence”. The new brand encompasses all key aspects for customer-focused electric mobility and extends beyond the vehicle itself. EQ offers a comprehensive electric mobility ecosystem of products, services, technologies and innovations. The spectrum ranges from electric vehicles to wallboxes and charging services to home energy storage units.
The new brand is heralded by the global reveal of our first EQ vehicle on the 4th of September 2018. The first series-produced EQ model will be launched in the SUV segment soon in Australia.

By 2022, the Mercedes-Benz will offer 7 pure Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) across all segments. The first of which will arrive in 2019; the EQC. The new generation of electric vehicles is based on an architecture developed specifically for battery-electric models. Locally emission-free driving is possible at all times, with extensive range possible from a single charge.

Mercedes-Benz vehicles with EQ Power branding are plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), featuring either a petrol or diesel powertrain combined with a High Voltage battery and electric motor. All-electric locally emission free driving is possible, as well as a hybrid mode, offering maximum efficiency. Our next generation of EQ Power models will offer state-of-the-art technology with even greater electric only range.

The Mercedes-AMG F1 W09 EQ Power+ proudly carries the “EQ Power+” designation. Mercedes-AMG, “EQ Power+” will stand for future performance hybrid models. EQ Power+ is also featured in the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE hyper car revealed in Frankfurt in 2017. -

EQ Boost | Hybrid Assist
Some of our vehicles benefit from EQ Boost technology, which feature a 48 volt integrated starter generator/motor alongside a combustion engine, this offers a better acceleration performance, lower emissions and improved efficiency. The EQ Boost system acts as both a starter motor and a “hybrid assist” motor. Though you do not plug-in to recharge the battery, the system recuperates energy from slowing down or braking for example.

The new EQ Ready app helps motorists decide whether it makes sense for them personally to switch to an electric car or hybrid. The smartphone app can record real journeys made by the user, analyse his or her everyday mobility behaviour and compare it with numerous parameters of electric and hybrid vehicles. This makes it possible to try out e-mobility in a virtual yet realistic way. The EQ Ready app also recommends which alternatively powered model from Mercedes-Benz best matches the user’s individual behaviour.
