Display styles

You can customise the design and the entire look and feel of the Widescreen Cockpit. There is a choice of four display styles: "Classic", "Sport", "Progressive" and "Subtle". The chosen style tangibly characterises the interior atmosphere, especially in conjunction with the ambient lighting.

Natural voice control

"Hey Mercedes." These two initial words start the natural, intuitive LINGUATRONIC voice control system which comes as standard. It reacts to almost every word. The system can even process indirect speech – the air conditioning will respond, e.g. to "I feel cold" and increase the temperature setting. At the same time the voice control also has learning capability. It attunes itself to your voice and thus understands you better.

Touch control concept

MBUX offers users maximum freedom for controlling all functions in the way most comfortable and convenient to them. Whether using voice control or intuitive touch functions. The new GLE comes with a multimedia touch display. There is also a touchpad integrated in the centre console, which responds to single and multi-finger gestures as well as handwriting. Furthermore, the displays can be controlled using Touch Control buttons on the steering wheel.

Head-up Display

The Head-up Display transforms your windscreen into an exciting digital cockpit. As such you always have a direct view of key information. Your full attention remains on the road and the traffic conditions in front of you. The virtual image generated by the head-up display is projected into the driver's natural field of vision and appears to hover above the bonnet. In the new design, information is displayed in high-resolution and in colour.

E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL fully active suspension.

With the new E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL fully active air suspension we are pooling our most innovative and intelligent suspension technologies to create a mesmerising driving experience.

In "Curve" mode, the vehicle can actively lean into a bend. This minimises the transverse force and tangibly increases comfort and dynamism. In "Comfort" mode, the ROAD SURFACE SCAN with stereo camera scans the road ahead of the vehicle. The suspension struts are then activated so as to substantially reduce the body movements when driving over bumps in the road. There are two other modes to choose from: "Sport" and "Offroad".

4MATIC

All-wheel drive with variable longitudinal distribution.

To ensure reliable start-off, even on slippery surfaces, the system permanently distributes the drive torque between the front and rear axle. Even oversteer and understeer when cornering at speed are reduced.

The 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive with the 4ETS Electronic Traction System ensures outstanding off-road capability and optimum traction on loose surfaces, snow or slush. For noticeably enhanced driving dynamics, the system is able to distribute the drive force variably between front and rear axle on some models of the new GLE.
